Wine + Food = Epiphany
The right wine to match with your food is whatever wine you like. This is the most important rule. Don’t drink something you don’t like just because a so called “expert” told you to do it. That being said, there are some basics that you can follow to help choose the right wine for you. Let’s identify a few basic things.
What wine do you like? Is the food light or heavy? How is it seasoned?
When we answer these questions, we can quickly eliminate wine that won’t match up well and focus on the ones that will. One simple rule is heavy food need heavy wine and lighter dishes need lighter wines. We don’t want our food overpowering our wine or vice–versa.
