Thomas-Laurent Bordeaux 2016
Located in Etauliers, north of the Gironde within the Cotes de Blaye, Chateau Thomas-Laurent’s vineyards are atop clay, sand and gravelly soils on 13 hectares of land. Merlot is the shining star in this region and also this wine, lending itself to 70% of the blend. It gives the wine a soft, rounded structure, while the two Cabernet grapes give structure, acidity, and a background aroma of green pepper and graphite. It’s a beautiful ruby red color with a dark concentration, and has a fruit-driven nose with aromas of ripe red and black fruits. On the palate the wine is pleasant, round, and with soft, velvety tannins. The finish is gentle but lengthy with good aromatic persistence. This is a stunningly high-quality Bordeaux at a value price, showcasing the fruit and complexity we love so much about good Bordeaux.
