Have you ever wandered by our world beer section and wondered about all single bottles and four packs of beer with foreign names?
The majority of American beer styles are inspired by European tradition – mostly by England, Belgium and Germany, where they have been brewing for hundreds of years.
One of my favorite imported beers is Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock from Germany, which is dark and creamy and almost has an aged taste to it. And if you’re observing lent, the monks created Doppelbocks packed with carbs and nutrients, so that they could sustain themselves for forty days on the brew. I don’t recommend living off beer alone for forty days, but I do recommend taking a beer vacation in the world beer section.
By all means, continue to support your local brewery, but if you’re feeling adventurous and want to learn about the roots of beer, book a trip with, in my opinion, the most knowledgeable beer staff around.
