Brand New France 44 Single Barrels have Arrived!

Here at France 44, we love our whiskey.  Whenever we get the chance to buy a special barrel, we jump at the opportunity. The problem is that these opportunities have been coming around less and less as demand grows. Luckily, we just received our barrel of Buffalo Trace as well as the first barrel of High West Double Rye! that we’ve had access to in over a year–both on the shelves just in time for the fall season. We’re here to talk to you through these barrels, as well as a few other items we have up our sleeve both in store and on the way. Stop by and try out some samples!

High West Double Rye! Moscatel Finish

99.2 Proof // Finish time: 1 year // $47.99

This is a very special barrel of Double Rye! It incorporates some of their own juice into the blend made right in Utah, along with their famed rye sourced from Midwest Grain Products of Indiana, maintaining the fresh, bright spice of mint and dill with a vanilla sweetness it’s become known for. Pair this with a Moscatel wine barrel finish for a whole year and you have a new monster altogether. Moscatel is an aromatic white wine filled with perfumed, bright flavors of floral, peach, pear, and honeyed apricot. This gives the sweet and spicy rye a whole new dimension of bright fresh fruit and a bigger body to complement its complexity. Our new Double Rye! makes a fruity Manhattan and an extra-spicy old fashioned, but it probably shines best on its own or with ice.

Buffalo Trace Single Barrel

90 Proof // $29.99

Oh, Buffalo Trace. Everything from this distillery has become allocated, down to the low-end Ancient Age. Talk about a huge stroke of luck in getting our own barrel! The France 44 single barrel boasts classic Buffalo Trace caramel apple tones with the addition of an orange rind citrus note along with cinnamon spice, making it perfect for Old Fashioneds this fall and sipping fireside.

Theses single barrels line up nicely alongside our more cherry-and-brown-sugar-toned 1792 Single Barrel that we have a pinch left of, as well as our two monstrous 13 year old cask strength Whistle Pig barrels that are more than half gone–one filled with vanilla and grassy rye spice while the other one is all cherry and cinnamon.

Coming down the pipeline this fall and winter we have a couple new favorite Single Barrels coming including an 11 year Elijah Craig pick, a Maker’s Mark Cask Strength special stave pick, and a few other surprises we cannot reveal quite yet. Come on in and try them this fall–we’re always happy to talk bourbon!
