Despite the snow, spring is almost here. With that in mind I decided to share one of my favorite recipes to make on a nice spring or summer day when the weather is perfect for grilling. These simple garlic honey glazed wings are sweet, spicy and always delicious.
Ingredients
The Wings:
- 12 chicken wings ~2 lbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
The Glaze:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 4-6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4-1/2 tsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- Sesame seeds
- Green onions

Directions
- Preheat your grill to 400º F.
- Pat your wings dry with a paper towel.
- Mix the dry seasonings together in a small bowl. Add the wings to a large mixing bowl and toss them in the dry seasonings until thoroughly coated.
- Lightly oil your grill grates and place the wings on the grill. Space them out so that none are touching; this will help get the skin nice and crispy.
- Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cook until crispy and the internal temperature reads 165º F on a meat thermometer.
- While the wings are cooking, add the honey, soy sauce, garlic, gochugaru and cornstarch to a saucepan on medium heat. Once the mixture comes to a simmer, lower the heat and let reduce for another ~5 minutes or until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon (see photo above).
- Remove the wings from your grill and place them in a clean, heat-proof bowl. Toss the wings in the glaze until each wing is fully coated with glaze.
- Garnish with the sesame seeds and green onions and serve immediately.
