New Whiskey Alert

A few gems have hit the shelf at France 44!

American whiskies are soaring right now to the point where bourbons and ryes are selling out left and right and new products are always coming and going. Luckily we were able to snag a good amount of a few rare and limited offerings we’ll have for a limited time we’d like to share with you! *Note: The Midwinter’s and Elijah Craig are not open on our tasting bar as they are too limited- get them while you can!

High West’s A Midwinter Nights Dram $89.99

When we’re offered a bunch of Midwinter, we take it and don’t ask many questions. High West’s crowning gem usually comes out in late November/early December and disappears in about a week and a half. Getting extra in February is a great way to break though the doldrums of winter. A Midwinter Nights Dram is High West’s staple Rendezvous Rye filled with big vanilla and rye spice finished in French oak port barrels. This combination of spicy rye and rich dark fruit from the port barrels bring out a mélange of Christmas-esque flavors of plum, raspberry, dark dried fruit, warm mulling spices, and mint. This is not a whiskey to miss a second time!

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch C917 $69.99 1 Bottle Limit

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a gigantic, brash, monster of a bourbon. Clocking in at a whopping 131 proof and aged 12 long years, Elijah Craig is known big oak spice, vanilla, and a ton of fruity tones of orange, cherry, and caramel apple. This is the follow up batch to their “B517” batch that came out in September of 2017 that won Whisky of the Year from Whisky Advocate. The WA pros said that this bottle was tasting “Bourbon at its Apex,” since it is uncut straight from the barrel. These releases are always a bit different and more and more fleeting with each release, so get it while you can!

Tattersall Straight Rye Whiskey $34.99

Hailing from northeast Minneapolis and a perennial France 44 favorite, Tattersall Distilling has just released their first ever rye whiskey! Made from a traditional Monongahela-style mashbill of 100% Rye and aged two full years in new Minnesota virgin white oak, this is an old school rye filled with big, bold rye spices of sweet grassy fennel, caraway and just a hint of anise. There’s just a touch of chocolate and vanilla on the nose but the palate is all dry rye spice. This is a perfect whiskey for making classic old school Sazeracs and Manhattans that call for dry rye spice to build a cocktail around. This whiskey has a lot of the same flavors or the rare limited release two and three year old Willett Ryes straight from Kentucky. The first batch hit the shelf this week so get it while you can!

Our whiskey shelf is always changing and growing and there will be many more bourbons to come and go in the coming weeks, and a few France 44 exclusive single barrels coming (hopefully) in April. Come on in to the shop and talk whiskey any time!
