What We’re Drinking: Črnko Jareninčan

When it comes to summertime white wine, I want something light bodied and lower in alcohol with a crisp finish. AKA, a porch pounder. The wine that fulfills that role for me this summer has been Črnko Jareninčan (chair-n-koe yarn-een-chan). Hailing from Slovenia, this wine is a 100% estate fruit, owned and operated by the same family for the last 40 years.

A crushable white blend with two different types of Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc makes this a perfect compliment to a warm summer day. Not only is it a fun wine to drink by itself, it has good food applications as well. Anything grilled would do well, hot dogs and hamburgers especially. A lighter summer salad with fresh greens would be delicious. I had this with chicken salad the other night and loved it!

Whether you are going over to a friend’s house for a dinner party or just enjoying a glass outside after a long day, this wine is the perfect wine. A serious wine for not so serious occasions. Come in today for your porch pounder for the season.
